JustPark Offers Free Parking for General Election Voters on 4th July

The new initiative grants 30 minutes of free parking near polling stations on General Election Day, 4th July.

  • Around one in 10 potential voters said lack of parking was enough to stop them voting.
  • Initiative ensures easy access to poll-day parking for everyone, especially beneficial to those with mobility issues.

25 June 2024, London, UK - JustPark is offering 30 minutes of free parking near polling stations on General Election Day, 4th July. This initiative, which means everyone will be given the time to park and vote for free, follows a survey of more than 2,100 drivers which found that more than a quarter (28%) were planning to drive to cast their vote, with cars being the second preferred mode of transport to the polls overall, after walking.

JustPark, the UK’s most useful parking app that helps people to find practical stress-free parking, has stepped in after the research showed free and accessible parking spaces could help to mitigate some of the reasons people thought they might not actually get to vote, despite their best intentions on the day. One in 10 of those surveyed said that not being able to find parking at the station was a concern, whilst being allocated an impractical polling station and bad weather were also cited as potential barriers to making it to the ballot box.

The 30 minutes of free parking being offered by JustPark is available all day on 4th July to registered JustPark users who pre-book via the app. It means everyone, particularly those with mobility issues or pushed for time, can access their polling stations easily and without the stress of finding or paying for parking. One in 10 of those surveyed also said that they either suffered from mobility issues themselves or helped someone else with mobility challenges get to the polls and this initiative is especially designed to support them.

Finally, the research also showed that more people would be keen to drive if parking was free (42% of respondents) and easy to find (35%), cementing JustPark’s commitment to help people find stress-free parking close to their polling station.

Mary Corrie, Managing Director of JustPark, UK, said: "Here at JustPark, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to vote, but know that on the day it isn’t always that straightforward.  By offering free parking on Election Day, we hope to make it easier for all voters, especially those with mobility issues or who are short on time, to find a place to park near their polling station. This is the second time we have offered this service, following its great success in the 2019 election, and we are confident it will help to get people to the polls once again."

Voters can access 30 minutes of free parking on 4th July by pre-booking a space via the JustPark website and app.
