It’s hard to believe that Marylebone, one of the wealthiest parts of London today, was once a quiet village in the early 18th century called Marylebone Park Field. Rather than focusing on the past however, we will shed light on Marylebone’s buzzing and exciting hot spots in 2024.

1. Attendant Coffee Roasters - Fitzrovia
Have you ever drank coffee in a toilet?
Attendant is a one-of-a-kind coffee shop serving up a range of excellent coffee and sandwiches with one unique theme. Located in an old refurbished Victorian-era toilet with standout interior design, it’s a great starting spot for tea, coffee and sandwiches. Make sure to follow your map closely as this is a spot you might easily walk past if you look for a cafe.
My personal favourite from their menu: Iced oat latte and the chicken & avocado brioche.
2. Regent’s Park
Now that you’re fuelled for the day, head over to Regent’s Park, one of the most beautiful parks in London, for a stroll. Regent's Park is jam-packed with plenty to do and could make a full day's out. You can choose to visit the London Zoo, which is a perfect option for visiting London with young children. However, if you’re looking for something more low-key, Primrose Hill offers panoramic views of the London skyline. Admire the view and see how many landmarks you can count. This is also a prime spot for sunset lovers!
3. Madame Tussauds
A visit to Madame Tussauds is unforgettable. The wax museum, founded in London in 1835 by the French wax sculptor Marie Tussaud, creates a memorable experience for all ages. The visit includes multiple interactive elements, such as the Chamber of Horrors or Marvel Universe 4D, which will keep the whole family entertained. Plus, the museum always introduces new figures, so even if you’ve been to Madame Tussauds before, there is something new to see each time.
Pro Tip: Buy your standard ticket in advance or for off-peak times and receive up to 50% off your ticket price. Queues can get quite long on peak weekend times or bank holidays, so make sure to plan accordingly.
4. Sherlock Holmes Museum
Another fun activity in Marylebone is the Sherlock Holmes Museum, the world's first museum dedicated to the fictional detective. The address is 221b Baker Street, which is elementary, dear reader. It’s a must-visit museum in London for any Sherlock Holmes fans!
5. Wellcome Collection
If art exhibitions are closer to your heart than fiction, Wellcome Collection is the perfect place. It is a free museum that shows various cultural items from around the world and historical artefacts, and puts on regular exhibitions on topics from the dairy industry to modern beauty standards. This is certainly one of the best places to visit for any artist seeking inspiration or those interested in the arts. There is also a beautiful library inside Wellcome Collection to visit on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
Current exhibits include:
- The Kola Nut Cannot Be Contained
- Being Human
- Hard Graft: Work, Health and Rights
- Jason and the Adventure of 254
6. Chiltern Firehouse
If you’re tired after visiting all these sites, Madame Tussauds is not the only place you can meet celebrities! Chiltern Firehouse is a very popular local spot in Marylebone, having served the community and celebs alike including David Beckham and Harry Styles. The interior is the perfect balance of cosiness and elegance, and the food is exceptional.
7. Mercato Mayfair
Mercato Mayfair is the perfect place to unwind after a busy, wallet-friendly and tasty day out. It will certainly be a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Situated within St Mark’s Church (which was used as a church until 1974), Mercato Mayfair is a sustainable community market and a cultural hub with three levels of food and drink stalls from which to choose. It is a place to go with friends or family because the various stalls will cater for everyone. Even the pickiest of eaters will find something to try in the temple of food. It also showcases a microbrewery, serving up London’s best lagers, exclusively available at Mercato sites and the brewery’s Dalston taproom. If you’re in Marylebone with a beer lover, bring them here.
Please Note: If you plan to enjoy alcoholic beverages at Mercato Mayfair, we urge you to drink responsibly. We emphasise the importance of not drinking and driving. Please make alternative travel arrangements to ensure everyone's safety if you plan to drink.
