The Covent Garden car park was, at one time, infamous for high crime rates and neglect. It has now seen a remarkable transformation thanks to our partners, Intelli-Park. We're also proud to have contributed to breathing new life into this important space in central London. In under a year, it has been completely revitalised, becoming a much safer and more inviting environment for everyone.
Innovative urban planning driving a 400% increase in footfall
Previously, the car park was a hotspot for crime, vandalism, and frequent vehicle break-ins, with 181 recorded crime incidents registered to the car park in the year prior to Intelli and JustPark’s involvement. It had earned a reputation as a place to avoid. However, through a mix of thoughtful urban planning, improved security measures and forward-thinking management, Intelli-Park has dramatically turned things around.
The results speak for themselves: the crime rate has plummeted, with just 20 incidents recorded in the last 12 months - an impressive 89% decrease year on year, and only one incident reported since July 2024. This transformation is a brilliant testament to what can be achieved with the right approach, making the car park not just functional but a key part of the Covent Garden community once again.
A community-centred transformation
Intelli-Park’s renovation has gone far beyond just improving safety, though reducing crime so dramatically in 12 months is a massive achievement. This project was designed with the whole community in mind. A dedicated security team has been employed to ensure the ongoing safety of all users whilst new lighting, CCTV, clear signage, and secure entrance shutters have all improved security. Additionally, the lifts were repaired, the entire facility underwent a deep clean, the staircases were refurbished, and the car park was repainted, enhancing accessibility and comfort as well as providing an improved environment for users.
It’s now a space that welcomes everyone — from families and theatre-goers to local workers enjoying Covent Garden’s lively scene.
The improvements have not only made the car park safer but also more popular, reflected in a 4.8-star Trustpilot rating. Visitors regularly highlight how easy it is to use, the security it offers, and its prime location — proving it’s become a go-to spot for the community.
New mobility solutions for modern urban living
Intelli-Park is already planning for the future, anticipating the growing need for flexible transport options in cities. They've introduced motorbike storage and are preparing to roll out additional services, including a partnership with Uber to offer e-bike facilities. This approach fits seamlessly with London’s shift towards more sustainable and adaptable mobility solutions, ensuring the car park continues to meet the evolving needs of urban commuters.
