Issued with a£100 parking fine that I now need to appeal!

The car park machine was out of order and it took over ten minutes to find owner of the pub premises to tell them. The owner said she would note my registration and make it so my car would be excused from parking, but I didn't trust it so I paid on the app anyway but that was about 15 minutes after I arrived, I tried to back date the time when paying but not sure it worked and just wanted to park honestly. It is all such a hassle and as it turned out we were totally in the wrong location and did not even need to park there, we were half a mile from destination due to postcode being incorrect by one digit. Hassle! But paying on app at least seemed easy. Hoping no big brother fine comes my way.
